The Friends of Handley Library will host an evening of poetry at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in honor of Alcohol Awareness Month (April) and Mental Health Month (May).
Authors Tonja Dudley Bagwell and Allen G. Dec will present “Poetic Perceptions: Embracing Poetry as Therapy,” read from their recent collections and discuss how poetry can aide in overcoming mental illness or addiction.
Winchester Trout Unlimited will host a “bar fly”event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Escutcheon Brewing, 142 W. Commercial St., Winchester.
No fly-tying or fly-fishing experience necessary. Those attending are encouraged to bring their fly-tying vise and any food they wish to eat or share (no drinks).

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Woodstock will hold a special service to honor law enforcement officials at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A reception will follow. Information: 459-3643.
