The Riverton United Methodist Church Men will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall at the back of the church. A free-will offering will be accepted.


Bake sale

Selah Theatre Project’s Full Hearts Destination Imagination Team will hold a Mother’s Day bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey’s True Value Hardware, 703 N. Royal Ave., Front Royal. Proceeds will help the team pay to attend the global finals May 22-26 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Donations can also be made to www.gofundme.com/goingtoglobals.



The Star Tannery Volunteer Fire Department will hold a beef and pork roast dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost for one entrée is $15 for adults and $7.50 for ages 12 and under.


St. John’s United Church of Christ in Edinburg will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday. A free-will offering will be accepted to benefit local families.


The Narrow Passage chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Woodstock.

The speaker will be District VI Director Sharon Steo, who will talk about DAR schools. Information: 856-3426.


Plant sale

The Strasburg FFA will hold a bedding plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the greenhouse beside the football field.

Other times can be scheduled by appointment. Plants available include a variety of flowers, vines and vegetables. Information: 540-465-5195.



The Fort Valley Fire Department will host bingo at 6 p.m. Saturday. Food will be available to purchase starting at 5:30 p.m. Information: www.fortvalleyfiredepartment.com.


The Masterworks Chorus of the Shenandoah Valley will present two performances of “I Choose Love” at 3 p.m. Saturday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock and 3 p.m. Sunday at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.

The Shenandoah County Extension office in Woodstock has announced the following groups will meet:

  •  The Fort Valley 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Community Center.
  • The New Market 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.
  • The Cabin Hill 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 7 p.m. May 16 at the Conicville Fire Department. Information: 459-6140.

Bake/flower sale

The North Mountain Lutheran Parish’s Relay for Life Team will hold a bake and flower arrangement sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the 7-Eleven by Interstate 81 in Strasburg.



Mount Jackson Rescue and Fire will hold a steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $16. Children’s meals are available. Information: 540-477-2490.
