A card shower is planned for Martha Cline, who will celebrate her 79th birthday Monday. Cards can be sent to her c/o Page County Memorial Hospital, Room 218, 200 Memorial Drive, Luray, Virginia 22835.
Strasburg Presbyterian Church will host “Music on the Hill” from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday to assist with medical expenses for Eddie Wharton, who was injured in a car accident in 2017.
The fundraiser will feature guest bands, a bake sale and food. Bake sale items are needed. In case of rain, the event will be moved inside the church.
Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh IV will portray Col. George Washington in his bid to win in the House of Burgesses in 1758 Winchester from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the Loudoun Street Walking Mall in front of the Civil War Museum at the 1840 Courthouse.
Frederick County Sheriff Lenny Millholland will portray the High Sheriff of Frederick County. Information: www.frenchandindianwarfoundation.org.
The Lunch Bunch will meet at noon Monday at the Strasburg United Methodist Church. Reservations can be made by calling 465-3418.
The Kiwanis Club of Old Town will meet for lunch at noon Monday at the Godfrey Miller Home on the Loudoun Street Mall.
Guest speakers will be from the Cives Steel Co. Craig Alderman, president and general manager, and Reginald J. Palmer, estimating manager, will talk about the construction of large buildings on the East Coast.

Area Diabetes support groups will meet on the following dates:
• Type 1 Diabetes Support Group will meet at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the old hospital’s Chronic Disease Resource Center, 333 W. Cork St., Suite 100, Winchester.

The movie “The Incredibles” will be shown from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Village Commons in Front Royal.

The Shenandoah County Extension office in Woodstock will hold the following meetings:
- Little North Mountain 4-H Shooting Education Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church in Strasburg.

The New Market Library will hold its summer reading program at 10 a.m. Thursday for ages birth to fifth grade.
Alex Berryman, New Market’s Town Planner/Zoning Administrator, and local plumber Bill Heitchew will discuss the importance of water and how it is distributed through the town.
The Mount Jackson/Forestville Adult Active Fellowship will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at Solomon’s Lutheran Church in Quicksburg.
Patty Fadeley will present a program about Blue Ridge Hospice. Those attending should bring a covered dish for the luncheon to follow.
