Carnival

The Conicville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual carnival from 5 to 9 p.m. today and July 27-28. Featured will be food, homemade ice cream, kids games, and nightly bingo. Thrash ‘n Holler will perform today and Stone Rollin on July 28.

Hoarding

Wednesday is the deadline to register to attend a free forum on hoarding sponsored by the Virginia Fair Housing office from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Shenandoah County Government Center in Woodstock.

The forum, for ages 18 and older, will present information on how to handle those with the disease, which was classified as a mental illness in 2013. Health and safety violations will also be discussed.

Garden club

Sari Carp, a founding member of Sustainability Matters, will present a program on Virginia garden history and incorporating relevant plants into your own garden at the meeting of the Mount Jackson Garden Club at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the parish hall at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Library

Wendy Whitford and Shane Ring will present programs about camels and Japanese traditions at 10 a.m. Thursday at the New Market Library.

 

Outdoor movie

The movie “Moana” will be shown at 8:45 p.m. Thursday on the lawn of the old Frederick County Court House on the Loudoun Street Mall in Winchester. Information: 540-662-4946.

 

Gazebo Flix

The movie “Cars 3” will be shown at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gazebo in Front Royal.

 

Bus trip

Aug. 18 is the deadline to register for a bus trip sponsored by the Friends of Handley Regional Library on Sept. 1 to the Library of Congress National Book Festival.
