Hamburg Ruritan Scholarship winners
The Hamburg Ruritan Club awarded $6,600 in scholarships to 18 students at its July picnic. Scholarship money was raised with fundraisers, community club projects and donations.
Scholarship winners are Dharmi Desai, a pharmacy student at James Madison University; Tiffany Hesler, a graduate of Strasburg High School, who earned an associate degree from Lord Fairfax Community College and will be attending West Virginia University to study accounting; Sarah Miller, a Stonewall Jackson High School graduate who will attend LFCC; Isaac Rhodes, a Central High School graduate who will attend LFCC’s animal science program; Bree Pifer, a sophomore at JMU majoring in sport and recreation management with a minor in business; Lindsey Baker, a Stonewall Jackson High School graduate who will attend Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in psychology.
Other recipients not pictured are: Jeremiah Estep, a graduate of Valley Baptist Christian School, who is attending Pensacola (Florida) Christian College; Tiffany Heishman, a student at West Virginia University; Brittany Bowman, a graduate student at Oklahoma State University studying agriculture; Whitney Bowman, a graduate student at Kansas State University studying agriculture; Josh Gordon, a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School who received the Bill Ortts Electric & Maintenance Service Scholarship; Callie Stead, a graduate of Strasburg High School who received the Dean Pence Automotive Technology Service Scholarship; and Triplett Tech students Matt Whetzel, Hiley Carroll, Megan Babcock, Tyler Baker and Miki Mumaw.
