Get together correction


An item about an event at the Fort Valley Fire Department today was submitted incorrectly to The Northern Virginia Daily. The  family get-together at 6 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall is for members only and is not open to the public. The fire department will provide the oysters, tea and water. Those attending should bring a covered dish plus a meat dish if you don’t like oysters.



The Shenandoah County Extension office has announced the following meetings will be held:

  • Seven Bends 4-H Shooting Education Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Round Hill Church of the Brethren in Toms Brook.
  • Little North Mountain 4-H Shooting Education Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church in Strasburg.

The Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a visit by The Nutman Company (gourmet nuts, candies and snack mixes) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Door 3-ASU entrance.


Ham radio

The Amateur Ham Radio Operators Club meets at 8:30 a.m. each Thursday at Cook’s Exxon in Woodstock. Information: Malcolm at 436-8503.


Book sale

The New Market Area Library will hold a book sale Thursday through Aug. 12 in conjunction with the Route 11 Yard Crawl.




The movie “Coco” will be shown from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Village Commons in Front Royal. Those attending should bring a lawn chair or blanket.
