The North Warren Fire & Rescue will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12 and free for children 3 and under.



Edinburg VFW Post 2447 will sell barbecued chicken from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $4 per half. Preorders: 984-4355.



The Epard, Bowman and Didawick families will hold a family reunion at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Ruritan shelter at W.O. Riley Park in Woodstock. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Paper products provided.


Food distributions

  • The Bread of Life Food Pantry will distribute food from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Woodstock United Methodist Church. Information: 540-459-4144.
  • The Compassion Cupboard will distribute food from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at 533 Burgess St., Strasburg. Information: 465-9476.



Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will hold a Science Scouts program on what torque is at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for ages 6 to 11. Information: 540-635-3153.



The Woodstock United Methodist Men will hold a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall. An offering will be accepted to benefit Boy Scout Troop 88.

School news

The Warren County School Board made the following personnel assignments at its Aug. 15 meeting:

  • Leslie Fox Keyser Elementary School: Veronica Diamond replaces Pamela Morris as head secretary.
  • Ressie Jeffries Elementary School: Sarah Okland replaces Tamara Houde as an instructional assistant.

Laura LeMay has been appointed a bus driver.
