Library

The Strasburg Community Library will hold a book and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Information: 465-8464.

 

Gardeners

Shenandoah County Master Gardeners will be available to answer home horticulture questions from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the Extension office in Woodstock. Information: 459-6140.

 

Fellowship

The Woodstock-Edinburg Adult Active Fellowship will meet at 11 a.m. Friday at the Edinburg VFW. Members are to note the change in meeting date.

The group will carpool to Swover Creek Farms for a tour and lunch. Information: Shenandoah County Parks and Recreation at 459-6777.

Roundtable

The Shenandoah County Extension office will host a roundtable discussion on head scab management in wheat from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the County Government Center in Woodstock.

Guest speakers will be Bill Mason and Steve Bazzle from the Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative, Dr. Wade Thomason, Extension small grain specialist, and Dr. Hilary Mehl, Extension plant pathology specialist.

Library

The New Market Area Library will host Books and Babies at 10 a.m. Friday for ages birth to 3 years. The theme for September is “Getting to Know You.” Information: Karen Whetzel at 540-740-8589.

Beth El

Beth El Congregation will hold an open house at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 520 Fairmont Ave., Winchester.

Prospective members are invited to meet Rabbi Scott Sperling, take a tour of the synagogue and learn about High Holy Day services and religious school. Rabbi Sperling will lead Erev Shabbat Services at 7:30 p.m.

An introduction to Judaism will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday followed by Torah study at 10:30 a.m. and Torah study Hebrew edition at 11:30 a.m.

On Sunday, there will be Erev (evening) Rosh Hashanan services at 8 p.m.

First Day Rosh Hashanan services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday followed by Tashlich at 2 p.m. at the stream at Shenandoah University. Family services begin at 3:30 p.m. at Beth El.

Second day Rosh Hashanan services will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 11.
