Open mic

Strasburg Presbyterian Church will host a Harmony Coffee House and open mic from 7 to 9 p.m. today featuring local musicians, desserts and coffee/tea.

 

Party

St. Luke Brethren Church on Back Road, Woodstock, will hold a yard party from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The Virginians will play bluegrass music starting at 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit local charities. Bring a lawn chair. Held rain or shine.

 

Bloodmobiles

  • Page Memorial Hospital in Luray will host a bloodmobile from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.
  • Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock will host a bloodmobile from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Walk-ins welcome, but appointments are encouraged online at www.donateblood.vablood.org.

 

Library

Bowman Library in Stephens City will hold the following activities:

Monday: 5 p.m., Lego Club; 6 p.m., teen advisory board meeting.

Sept. 15: 9 a.m.-noon, book drop-off for fall book sale; 10 a.m., chess for all ages and skill levels and kid’s chess tournament; 11 a.m., family story time.

Sorority

The Delta Rho Sorority will hold its first meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Peggy Thompson, 804 W. 16th St., Front Royal. Information: 540-635-3752.

 

Museum

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley will host Tiny Tales story time at 11 a.m. Wednesday for ages 2 to 5 at 901 Amherst St., Winchester. Information: 540-662-1473 or visit www.themsv.org.

Trout

Winchester Trout Unlimited will host a bar-fly event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Escutcheon Brewing, 142 W. Commercial St., Winchester. No fly-tying or fly-fishing experience necessary.

Goodlatte

The open door meetings with staff members from U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte’s office scheduled for Thursday in Broadway and Mount Jackson have been cancelled.

 

Luncheon

The Front Royal Christian Women’s Connection will hold a luncheon meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowling Green Country Club in Front Royal.

The guest speaker will be Barbara McGreger, of Kingsport, Tennessee. Rhonda Bradfield from Horton Nursery will present a program on succulent plants.

Medicare

A free program on the basics of Medicare, including eligibility, important dates, coverage and supplement options, will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Samuels Public Library, 330 E. Criser Road, Front Royal.
