Weekend Events

The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:

Film

The classic movie “Some Like It Hot” will be shown at dusk (about 8:30 p.m.) Saturday at the Taylor Pavilion on Winchester’s Old Town Mall.  Those attending are asked to bring chairs/blankets. In case of rain, the film will be shown at Handley Library. Admission is free.

Gazebo Gatherings

The Blue Ridge Arts Council will sponsor a concert by Rich Follett at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Gazebo in Front Royal. Information: 540-635-9909 or www.blueridgearts.org.

Concert

Who Shot John will perform at the third annual Cross Roads Fest Music Series from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at New Market Rebel Park. Admission is free. Food and drinks available for purchase.

“Beauty”

Shenandoah Conservatory will present “Beauty and the Beast” at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre, 620 Millwood Ave., Winchester.

Theatre

James Madison University’s Children’s Theatre Playshop Players will present Rudyard Kipling’s “Just So Stories” at 7 p.m. today, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Forbes Center Studio Theatre in Harrisonburg.

Schultz Theatre

The Schultz Theatre at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School will present “Red, White and Tuna” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at 26 Hawks Hill Drive, Broadway.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students and seniors. Parental guidance is suggested for mild language.

Arts Council

Arts Council of the Valley will show the following movies this weekend at Court Square Theater in Harrisonburg:

“Beatriz at Dinner:” today through July 13

“Wakefield:” today through July 13.

Bluemont

The Bluemont Concert Series will open for the summer season featuring a performance by Baltimore quartet Charm City Junction at 7:30 p.m. today at old Frederick County Courthouse, 20 N. Loudoun St., Winchester.

Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and senior citizens and $2 for children under 12. In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the First Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Loudoun St. Information: 540-338-4640.

Bright Box

Bright Box Theater has announced the following performances will be held this weekend at 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester:

• Springfield Exit: 8 p.m., today. Tickets: $10 in advance, $15 at door.

• Divas Drag Show: 7 and 10 p.m., Saturday. Tickets: $20-$30.

The Barns

The Barns of Rose Hill will present a concert by Cricket Tell the Weather at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and free for ages 12 and younger.

Festival

The Red, White & Brew Festival, with performances by EZGO Band and the Hackens Boys, will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park on Turner Avenue in Broadway.

Admission is $10, $5 for ages 12-21 or non-drinkers and free for children under 12. Tickets for beer or wine are $4 per drink. Food and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase. Information: 540-896-4992.
