European Festival is Saturday at Winchester Medical Center

The second annual European Festival brings international tastes and sounds to the Winchester Medical Center  beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to enjoy  tastes and sounds from Italy, Germany and the British Isles. Large tents will provide cover, allowing attendees to enjoy food, beverages, and a continuous lineup of traditional music, dance and other entertainment.

Sights and sounds from the British Isles will include Winchester Pipe & Drums; Sterling Playmakers performing staged combat performances and Armstrong Irish Dance Academy showcasing traditional Irish step dancing.

From Italy, Fulvio Ranni professional singers, keyboardist and accordionist will perform old school to contemporary high energy Italian music.

And from Germany, The Edelweiss Band will provide German and Austrian music, including performances from an Alphorn duo and Bavarian dancers. Entertainment beings at 11 a.m.

Featuring more than 20 vendors, the festival Marketplace will offer European foods, beverages and gifts for sale. Activities for children will include a petting zoo, castle bounce house, sword balloons and a photo booth.

The European Festival will be held on the grounds of Shenandoah University Health Professions Building, 1775 N. Sector Court, on the north end of the hospital campus. Admission for adults is $10 (age 12 and up) and $5 for children. Festival Passports may be purchased at the gate. They include event admission along with tickets for three food tastings and one non-alcoholic beverage.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Valley Health Cancer Center at Winchester Medical Center.
