Wine & Trotter event is Saturday at Shenandoah Downs
The 5th annual Wine & Trotter event returns to Shenandoah Downs in Woodstock on Saturday.
Tom Eshelman, general manager of the Shenandoah County Fair, said the Wine & Trotter event is a simple but fun event for the whole community.
“People come out for good music, horse racing and wine. It’s a good time for everyone involved,” he said.
It’s more of a boutique-style regional event, Eshelman explained. Four wineries including Bluestone Vineyard, Blue Ridge Vineyard, Desert Rose and North Mountain Vineyard and Winery and a meatory, Milkstone, will be on location for the event.
Tickets for the Wine & Trotter event are $16 in advance or $20 at the gate.
Attendance over the years has been estimated between 1,200 and 1,500 people. Eshelman said he is hoping for the same at this year’s event.
“This is the only event like this in our area,” he said. Guests are encouraged to wear their most elegant or creative fancy hat. Prizes will be awarded to the best.
Next Saturday is the Seafest Seafood Festival starting at 11 a.m. Shenandoah Downs comes to a close with its annual Autumnfest on Oct. 14 with the last day of racing on Oct. 15.
