Celebrate the hunter’s moon

WINCHESTER –  James Charles Winery & Vineyard celebrates hunter’s moon night at 8 p.m. today.

Coy Ferrell, of the Bogaty Family Wine Group, said this event is a way to bring the community together and have a fun, laid-back evening enjoying the night sky.

The hunter’s moon, sometimes known as the “blood moon,” is the first full moon in October.  It gets it name from hunters who tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight.

“Since October is officially Virginia Wine Month, and since this is about the time we wrap up harvest, this event will be a bit of a celebration for us to mark the end of the growing season” Ferrell said.

3FiresOven of Winchester will be on site making wood-fired pizza and Wildflower will perform from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“Basically, it’s just a fun, family friendly, block-party atmosphere and people really seem to love it,” Ferrell said.
