This Weekend: Dec. 1
The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:
Appearances by the Silent Monks of the Shenandoah and a concert by the Sheree Jennings Singing Group will open this weekend’s Christkindlmarkt at 6 p.m. today at the Village Commons in downtown Front Royal. A light show will start at 5 p.m. at the caboose.
Christkindlmarkt will be held from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday featuring appearances by Guinness record-holder strongman Tommy Heslep, caricature artist Shelby Vollten, ventriloquist Karin Tyson, magician Kevin Owens, Doodlebug the Clown and the dance troupe from Jig ‘n’ Jive. Santa and Mrs. Claus will host Paws & Claus, pet pictures with Santa, to benefit the Humane Society of Warren County from noon to 3 p.m. A beard and mustache competition will begin at noon. There will also be activities for the kids, food and the Christmas parade at 4 p.m. followed by a light show at the caboose at 5 p.m.
The Arts Chorale of Winchester will perform its holiday concert “A Candlelight Christmas” at 8 p.m. today and Saturday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 W. Boscawen St., Winchester.

Barns of Rose Hill
The Barns of Rose Hill will hold the following programs this weekend at 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville:
• Today: 7 p.m., Christmas concert by the Clarke County Community Band.
• Sunday: 1-2 p.m., art sale opening reception.

Berryville will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. today at Rose Hill Park. The Community Band and Clarke County High School Carolers will perform along with a special dance presentation by Social Graces.
Bright Box Theater has announced the following activities will be held this weekend at 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester:
• Today: 8 p.m., Tom Principato with guest Tommy Lepson.
• Saturday: 9 p.m., Litz plus The Last Rewind (Phish tribute).
• Sunday: 6 p.m., Cash Unchained, the music of Johnny Cash.

Masterworks Chorus of the Shenandoah Valley will present “Here We Come A-Caroling” at 3 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock and 3 p.m. Sunday at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.

Preservation of Historic Winchester will hold its annual preview party and candlelight tour of area homes from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at 102 S. Stewart St., Winchester. Tickets are $40.
Holiday house tours will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 522 S. Loudoun St., 125 E. Clifford St., 420 N. Loudoun St. and 21 S. Washington St. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Catherine Bach, Daisy Duke on the television series “The Dukes of Hazzard,” will be at Cooter’s from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 4768 U.S. Highway 211 West, Luray.
The Shenandoah Jamboree will perform a Cooter’s Country Christmas at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane will host holiday house tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23. Information: 540-592-3556.
Shenandoah Conservatory will present the following concerts this weekend:
• Saturday: 5:30 p.m., holiday tradition “Unsilent Night” parade through the Old Town Walking Mall.
