Weekend Events: Jan. 19

The following are some of the area events that will be happening this weekend:

Music

The Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court in Berryville, will present “The Music of Simon and Garfunkel” performed by Swearingen & Kelli at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the Barns of Rose Hill Box Office at 540-955-2004.

 

Blandy

Blandy Experimental Farm, 400 Blandy Farm Lane in Boyce, presents a Saturday afternoon of fun for all ages beginning at 4 p.m. “Creatures of the Night” explores the world of nighttime animals, from bats and owls to the evening chorus of frogs and insects.

Tickets are $20 for members or $25 for nonmembers.

 

Art

 

The Blue Ridge Arts Council & Gallery, 305 East Main St. in Front Royal, invites guests to an art opening and reception at 2 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit, “Lovely Lines, Photography & Contemporary Quilling,”  by local artist Deb Booth celebrates the bits of brilliance she sees around the world.

Dueling Pianos

 

Bright Box, 15 N. Loudoun St., in Winchester will present Dueling Pianos at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m Sunday.

General admission is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Doors open an hour early for seating and refreshments.

 

Concert

The Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre, 620 Millwood Ave in Winchester will present Collage Concert at 7:30 p.m. toay. Presented as part of the Mid-Atlantic honor Band invitational, this concert features an array of music performances by  Shenandoah Conservatory’s  faculty and student ensembles.

‘Good People’

Winchester Little Theater’s production of “Good People” continues this weekend.

“Good People” tells the tale of Margie, a tough middle-aged “southie” from the wrong part of Boston who loses her job and is a single bingo game away from homelessness.  The cast includes Jacquie Wheeler as Dottie, Betsy Arnett as Jean, and Bill Taylor as Mike.

Trout fishing

Murray’s Fly Shop, 121 S. Main St. in Edinburg, will present its “Mastering Trout Fishing Workshop” class at 10 a.m. Saturday. Learn techniques, discuss useful tools and other fishing skills during this two-hour workshop with Harry Murray.

Presentation

Beth El Congregation, 520 Fairmont Ave., in Winchester will present Ambassador H. Kenneth Hill, former ambassador to Bulgaria, at 7:30 p.m. today.

The topic will be on Bulgaria’s saving Jews from the Holocaust during World II.
