This Weekend: Aug. 3

The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:


The Frederick County Fair continues through Saturday with rides, games and concessions. Local musician Robbie Limon will perform at 7 p.m. today and Wicked Olde Band at 7 p.m. Saturday. See https://www.frederickcountyfair.com/ for more information on the fair.


The Con Burch Band will perform at the Blue Ridge Arts Council concert at 7 p.m. today at the Town Commons in Front Royal. Admission is free. Information: 540-635-9909 or www.blueridgearts.org.


Bluemont Concert Series

Furnace Mountain will perform at 7:30 p.m. today as part of the Bluemont Concert Series at the old Frederick County Courthouse, 20 N. Loudoun St., Winchester.

Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and senior citizens and $2 for children under 12. In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the First Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Loudoun St.

A free showing of the movie “Peter Rabbit” will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. today at the New Market Community Park. Bring chairs/blankets. Information: 540-740-3432.


Concert series

The Town of Middletown will host a free concert series from 6 to 8 p.m. each Friday in August at the corner of Second and Main streets near Nana’s Irish Pub.



Members of the Helltown Cruisers will show off their cars at a cruise-in from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Village Commons in Front Royal.



The Strasburg Museum will host an exhibit of Dwight Miller’s pharmacy collection from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit will be on display through Aug. 17.

The collection includes bottles and tools of the trade from 1900-1960s, a pharmacy-specific typewriter, pill roller, scales, label dispenser and more. Admission is free. Information: 540-465-3175 or visit www.strasburgmuseum.org.


Antique auto show

Edinburg’s annual antique auto show will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Edinburg Mill. Information: Michelle at 984-8521.

Rouss Center

“The Locker next 2Mine,” a dramedy by Jonathan Dorf, will be presented at 7 p.m. today with a light dinner and 3 p.m. Sunday at Rouss Center for the Arts, 9357 N. Congress St., New Market.

Bright Box

Bright Box Theater has announced the following performances will be held this weekend at 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester:

  • Today: 8 p.m., the band Runa performs, tickets $15 in advance, $18 at door; 9 p.m., Christian Lopez Band with Chasing Autumn, tickets $15 and $20.
  • Saturday: 9 p.m., The Reflex 80s tribute band, tickets $10 and $12.

Barns of Rose Hill

The Freight Hoppers will perform at 8 p.m. today at the Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville.
