The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:

Festival

The Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Strasburg.

Stop by Town Hall to pick up your score card, then hop from business to business sampling to vote for your favorites. Tickets have been sold out.

Shenandoah Conservatory

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner will perform a retrospective of his work at 8 p.m. today and Saturday.

Today’s concert features Shenandoah Conservatory’s in-house new music group EDGE Ensemble at Bright Box Theater, 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester. Saturday’s concert features the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Conservatory Choir, Shenandoah Chorus and Cantus Singers in Armstrong Concert Hall, 702 University Drive, Winchester.

Kernstown Battlefield

Kernstown Battlefield and Expert Historical Tours will present “The Five Battles of Winchester,” a day of lectures and tours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 610 Battle Park Drive, Winchester, near Creekside Station.

Guest speakers will be Gary Ecelbarger, Eric Wittenberg and Scott Patchan. The cost is $20, which includes lunch. Held rain or shine.

Sunday will be a special day honoring veterans, active-duty military and first responders from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments served.

Magic LanternTheater

Magic Lantern Theater will host a screening of the film “First Reformed,” which is rate R for restricted – no one under 17 admited without a parent or guardian at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., Winchester.

Heritage Day

Burwell-Morgan Mill in Millwood will hold its annual Heritage Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Featured will be activities, kids’ games and an encampment of Revolutionary War re-enactors. Free admission. Information: 540-955-2600.

 

Schultz Theatre

Schultz Theatre will present “Over the River and Through the Woods” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School, 26 Hawks Hill Drive, Broadway.

Future performances will be held Nov. 9-11. Tickets are $15 and $13 for students and seniors.

PAL

The Potomac Fever Ensemble of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., will perform at 7:3 p.m. Saturday at Performing Arts Luray on Main Street.
