Gardeners

Shenandoah County Extension Master Gardeners will be available to answer home horticultural questions this weekend at two locations:

• Friday: 9 a.m.-noon at the Extension office in Woodstock.

• Saturday: 9 a.m.-noon, at the Strasburg Farm Market at Pot Town Organics.

Blood drive

The Front Royal Kiwanis Club will hold its annual blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 14 W. 1st St., Front Royal.

 

Breakfast

The Conicville Volunteer Fire Department will hold a breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at 763 Conicville Road, Mount Jackson. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Sale

Millwood United Methodist Church will hold a yard and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (rain or shine) at 700 Bishop Meade Road, Millwood.

Barbecue

Edinburg VFW Post 2447 will sell barbecued chicken from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $4 per half. Pre-orders: 984-4355.

Bingo

A queen qingo fundraiser will be held starting at 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Market Fire Department.

Pig roast

Maurertown Brethren Church will hold a pig roast starting at 4 p.m. Saturday. A free-will offering will benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry. There will also be homemade ice cream and special music.

Dinner

The Star Tannery Volunteer Fire Department will hold a dinner with a choice of barbecue or country ham starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Benefit

A benefit to assist Katie Tusing with medical expenses will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Cave Ridge Vineyard, 1476 Conicville Road, Mount Jackson.

There will be barbecue and music by The Foundry Street Project. A $20 donation is requested.

Library

Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will hold Books and Barks at 10:10 a.m. Saturday for beginning readers to read with a trained therapy dog. Information: 540-635-3153.
