Scholarship

July 5 is the deadline for current and former members of the Shenandoah County 4-H and FFA to apply for the 4-H Dairy Club Endowed Scholarship.

Habitat receives land

Warren County Habitat for Humanity has received a gift of two lots of land located in Skyland Estates.

The lots, valued at $5,000 each, is a gift from Robert and Louise Tano, of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Perry and Fran Hudson, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Warren County Habitat for Humanity has built 14 homes since its inception in 1993. Information: 540-551-3232.

 

Gazebo Flix

“Lorax” is the family oriented movie being shown as part of Gazebo Flix at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gazebo in Front Royal. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Revival

Greater Joy Baptist Church will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at 45 E. Strasburg Road, Front Royal.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. James R. Kelly, of Silverhill Baptist Church in Bealeton.

The Rev. Herbert Johnson, of Promised Land Baptist Church in Sperryville, will be the speaker for the Rally Day service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Dinner will follow the morning service.

 

College news

Golda Lee Albert, of Toms Brook, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Fort Hays State University. She is a junior majoring in human resource management.

 

School news

The Shenandoah County School Board made the following personnel announcements at its June 14 meeting:

Sandy Hook Elementary School: Celeste Crowder was appointed a second-grade teacher; Nicholas Oakley is transferring from Ashby Lee Elementary as a physical education teacher.

Peter Muhlenberg Middle School: Sara Kelley has been appointed a social studies teacher; Tina Acker has been appointed a paraprofessional; Linda Plaugher has been appointed a food service worker.

W.W. Robinson Elementary School: Nichole Napotnik has been appointed a fifth-grade teacher.

Ashby Lee Elementary School: Kristin Sheridan has been appointed a first-grade teacher; William Harlow Jr. is transferring from W.W. Robinson Elementary as a physical education teacher; Kathy Wills is transferring from Peter Muhlenberg Middle as a food service worker.

Signal Knob Middle School: Jason Conroy is transferring from Sandy Hook Elementary as a physical education teacher.

Strasburg High School: Melissa Foltz, formerly an assistant principal, has been named principal; Jane Plaugher is transferring from Signal Knob Middle as a food service worker.

Stonewall Jackson High School: Aimee Miller, formerly a school counselor, has been named coordinator of counseling.
