Winchester, Valley Health to hold first Shape up Sunday

Old Town Winchester has partnered with Valley Health to feature a new event this summer – Shape Up Sundays.

Shape Up Sundays are outdoor classes that will be held one Sunday a month and will begin Sunday at Old Town Winchester Taylor Pavilion. Classes will include yoga, aerobics, running, climbing and kickboxing. Event partners, including Valley Health, Dharma Yoga Studio, Mountain Trails and Runners’ Retreat, will lead classes rain or shine.

Downtown Manager Jennifer Bell said when people hear about the event they are interested in participating because they love the idea of an outdoor yoga class or trying something new like kickboxing.

“We are always looking for new events to entice visitors to Old Town Winchester,” she added. “We wanted to add a healthy activity to our lineup of events that would also involve downtown businesses and interest millennials. Shape Up Sundays was created with those goals in mind and offers six different free outdoor fitness classes in one day.”

Bell said that since the event is free, she hopes visitors will visit downtown Winchester to try out something new and learn about keeping an active lifestyle and about the businesses that offer these services.

“Old Town Winchester truly has something for everyone and we want people to think of Old Town whether they are looking for entertainment, shopping, dining or a place to exercise,” she added.
