Strasburg Library will have a Blackrock Reptiles show Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. for preschoolers and a full show from 1 to 2 p.m.

Belle Grove

Belle Grove Plantation, south of Middletown, will hold five story times as part of the Valley Reads Program this month and in August.

The program at 10 a.m. Wednesday will be Reading with a Ranger following by a free National Park Ranger program at 11:30 a.m.

For those attending, a tour of the mansion will be free for one child with a paying adult. Children that are part of the Valley Reads program can earn badges.

Bowman Library in Stephen City will host a STEAM program, “Worker Wednesday,” from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays in July for ages 9 to 17.

The program Wednesday will be about sound waves and building musical chords.

Story time

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley will hold a Tiny Tales story-time program for ages 2 to 5 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Glen Burnie House at 901 Amherst St., Winchester.

Handley Regional Library in Winchester has announced the following programs:

• Open mic poetry night: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday. Sponsored by Shenandoah Poetry Alliance.

• Research Revolutionary War ancesters: 6:30-8 p.m., Wednesday.

• #ThrowbackThursday (for teens): 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday featuring the movie “Rugrats Go Wild.” Registration required by calling 540-662-9041.

Ham radio

The Amateur Ham Radio Operators Club meets at 8:30 a.m. Thursdays at Cook’s Exxon in Woodstock. Information: Malcolm at 436-8503.

Gazebo Flix

“Field of Dreams” will be the family oriented movie being shown as part of Gazebo Flix at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gazebo in Front Royal. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and/or blanket.


The Judicial Center on North Kent Street in Winchester will host a community blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Free t-shirts will be given to all donors while supplies last. Walk-ups are welcome, but appointments are encouraged by visiting https://donateblood.vablood.org.


The Little North Mountain 4-H Shooting Education Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church in Strasburg. Information: 459-6140.


Handley Regional Library in Winchester will host a program on solar energy for homes and businesses from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Aaron Sutch, from the nonprofit VA Sun, will discuss a community-driven bulk purchase program and how Winchester area residents and businesses can join. Information: www.handleyregional.org.
