Pet of the Week: Felix ready for another chance at a new home
FRONT ROYAL – Seven-year-old feline Felix was initially adopted from the Humane Society of Warren County’s Julia W. Wagner Animal Shelter several months ago, but after a brief stay in his new home he was returned to the facility on May 23. Felix is now awaiting another shot.
“He’s really, really sweet,” said Michelle Madden, an employee at the shelter, last week. “He’s very timid but once he knows you he’s really sweet and he likes to cuddle.”
Madden said Felix’s return to the Humane Society of Warren County wasn’t of the cat’s own doing. The previous adopters, Madden noted, owned another cat that didn’t get along well with his new roommate.
“Felix does get along with other cats,” Madden said. “It was pretty much the other cat.”
At nearly 13 pounds, the tuxedo-clad Felix is a bit on the large side for a feline, although Madden said she wouldn’t consider the cat to be overweight.
Both Madden and co-worker Marie Anderson agreed that Felix makes a cuddly companion best suited for life as a lap cat.
“He really is just low key,” Anderson said. “He’s not in-your-face affectionate but he’s not independent to the point of wanting nothing to do with you. He is a nice cat. He’s very quiet.”
Felix comes fully prepared for adoption. He is neutered and is up to date on all his vaccinations, Madden said. She added that adoption fees for neutered/spayed cats at the Julia W. Wagner Animal Shelter are $5 while the facility operates with a surplus of feline residents.
