Holly Embrey and Bradley Henshel, of Toms Brook, have announced the birth of a 7-pound, 5-ounce daughter, Delaney Rose, on July 28 at Winchester Medical Center.


The Alamo Drafthouse will show the film “Iron Giant,” featuring the voices of Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Aniston and Vin Diesel, as part of its Summer Kids Camp at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the theater in Winchester’s Kernstown Commons.

Tickets range from $1 to $5 with all of the ticket sales donated to the Henry & William Evans Homefor Children and Bright Futures of Frederick-Winchester.

Samuels Public Library in Front Royal has announced the following programs will be held:

• Pirates: Lost at Sea: 2 p.m., Friday. Explore science behind clouds, combustion, air pressure and more.

• Children’s garden program (ages 6 and older): 11 a.m., Saturday. Theme: lavender. Try lavender tea and cookies and make a lavender dream sachet.


The Rev. Dr. Margaret T. Kutz was the speaker at the luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Front Royal on Aug. 4. She spoke about her life-long dream of teaching in Africa and opening a secondary school in South Sudan in 2013. She continues to work with the Lost Boys of Sudan and Abukloi Inc., a nonprofit in Virginia, in their work to improve the lives of people in Rumbek, South Sudan, through education and opportunity.

Kutz, who retired after 39 years serving churches in Northern Virginia, Loudoun County, Williamsburg and Chester, leads a weekly Bible study at the women’s prison in Goochland and serves as a pastoral coach and consultant.

The club meets for lunch at noon on Fridays at the Holiday Inn at Blue Ridge Shadows.
