Flight, food, fun at Virginia Air Show
Saturday marks the 10th annual Virginia Air Show at the Front Royal-Warren County Airport.
This family centered event combines a barnstorming air show featuring over 50 aircraft and over 100 cars.
“This event was started 10 years ago, in tribute to 9/11” said event organizer Ken Thurman. “We want to continue to honor military veterans in the best way we can.”
This year’s wing-walking event includes biplanes from the World War II era, gliders, single engines and more. The car show will include vintage cars, mustangs, and everything in-between.
Returning this year are the Bealton Flying Circus, known for its parachute jumper who opens the event as he glides down while carrying the American flag, aerobatic performances by Adam Messenheimer and Scott Francis, as well as hot air balloons. This year’s event will pay special tribute to Bill Finigan.
Tickets are $5 at the door and kids under the age of 6 are free. There will be food, drinks, merchandise and sponsor vendors as well as a beer garden and wine. provided.
The first 500 children will receive a free door prize, while car show participants will receive awards for the Top 20 in show as well as best in show. Participants are also eligible to win door prizes that will be provided by local car and auto parts stores.
Proceeds from this event go to the Warren County Humane Society and DARE.
