Shower

A card shower is planned for Courtney Weatherholtz, who will celebrate her 96th birthday Sept. 21. Cards can be sent to 447 W. Old Cross Road, New Market, Virginia 22844.

Reunion

The Conner family will hold a reunion at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Toms Brook. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Paper products provided.

Tour

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service will host a Graze 300 twilight tour beginning at 6 p.m. Monday at the Julian and Patty Price farm, Mike Longs Woods Road, Luray.

The Prices, who graze their cattle about 270 days per year, are trying the summer stockpile technique. No pre-registration required. Information: 540-459-6140.

Food distribution

The Bread of Life Food Pantry will distribute food from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday and Sept. 21 at 156 S. Muhlenberg St., Woodstock. Appointments can be arranged by calling 540-459-1928.

History

The Shenandoah County Historical Society will host James Madison University Professor Carole Nash at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Heritage Center, 106 S. High St., Edinburg.

Nash will discuss “Native peoples of the early contact period in the Valley from 1500 to the 1760s.”

The Warren County School Board announced the following personnel appointments at its Sept. 6 meeting:

• Ressie Jeffries Elementary School: Kasey Nicholson, kindergarten team leader; Carey Brogan, first-grade team leader; Katy Cooper, second-grade team leader; Patricia Atkins, third-grade team leader; Jessica Ryan, fourth-grade team leader; Jeanellyn Beatty, fifth-grade team leader; Kimberly Okland, special team leader; Christine Tingle, special education team leader.
