Winchester Restaurant Week begins Monday

OLD TOWN WINCHESTER – Restaurant Week returns to the downtown walking mall Monday through Sept. 16.

The weeklong event sponsored by the Winchester Main Street Foundation is designed to introduce diners to the mall’s restaurants.

Restaurants presenting three-course meals for $30 during Restaurant Week include Brewbakers Restaurant, George’s Food and Spirits, Joe’s Steakhouse, Piccadilly’s Public House, Village Market & Bistro, and Village Square Restaurant.   Some of the items on Monday’s menus include oyster stew, wild mushroom ravioli, and salted caramel chocolate pecan bunt cake.

Jessica Jenkins, of Winchester, said she has lived in the city for over six years.  “I’ve never eaten at any of the participating restaurants –  so this gives me an opportunity to try them for the first time. Plus the menus looking amazing.”

She added, “Seriously though. Have you looked at the menus? I’m seriously drooling right now.”

Jenkins listed some of the menu items like crab-stuffed salmon, strawberry cake and pirogues. “I’m a foodie – what can I say.”

Joel Richardson,  secretary of the Winchester Main Street Foundation, said the nonprofit organization is excited about this year’s Restaurant Week.

“It is usually tremendous fun and restaurants get to show their talents,”  he said. “Some of the restaurants have posted their restaurant week menu; others will usually follow up on social media, or encourage people to stop by and be spontaneous.”
