The Shenandoah County Public Schools Special Education Committee will hold its annual Transition and Disabilities Fair from 3 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday at Peter Muhlenberg Middle School in Woodstock. For information, call Sandy at 459-6716.


Today is the deadline to order from the chicken and bake sale sponsored by Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Strasburg.

The sale will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Strasburg United Methodist Fellowship Hall.

Shenandoah Memorial Hospital will host a bloodmobile from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. Appointments can be scheduled at www.donateblood.vablood.org.


St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Woodstock will hold a Fire and Rescue Appreciation service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A reception will follow.


The Northwestern Community Services Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunshine House in New Market.


Bowman Library in Stephens City will hold the following activities:

• Teen Writer’s Guild meeting: 5-6 p.m., Thursday for ages 12-18.

• Game night: 5:30-8 p.m., Friday for middle- and high-school students. There will be an added challenge of an Escape Room with zombies at the door. Chaperons present. Snacks provided.

The Laurel Center will hold its annual candlelight vigil from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday on the courthouse steps in Winchester as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The event will honor victims and families of those affected by domestic violence. There will be stories from survivors and music by the Sherando High School choir.

Christine Andreae with Inanna Wood Cuts will be the speaker at the meeting of Womangathering from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 213 E. Main St., Front Royal.


The Friends of Handley Library will host local poet John Berry from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
