Enjoy barbecue and music at AutumnFest
WOODSTOCK – The 7th annual Shenandoah AutumnFest returns to the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Sharon Baroncelli, executive director of the Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce, said AutumnFest is a great time to showcase what Shenandoah County has to offer in the way of crafters, breweries and vineyard.
This year’s AutumnFest is expected to draw 2,000 visitors lured by the promise of barbecue, local wine, craft brews, spirit tastings and live music. Shenandoah Downs Harness Racing, a classic car cruise-in, Solve It Escape Rooms, Mystery Games and the Route 11 Yard Crawl Flip are among this year’s new attractions.
“We’re really looking forward to the Route 11 Yard Crawl Flip. More so because we’re anxious to see what they did,” Baroncelli said. Six contestants each bought an item during the yard crawl. These items have been repurposed and will be auctioned at the end of the festival. The proceeds from the auction will be split between the contestants and Leadership Shenandoah County.
Craft vendors, chainsaw demonstrations, cornhole tournaments, and the Virginia Golden Ax wood-splitting championship will return to this year’s event.
Craft breweries offering tastings include Apocalypse Ale Works, Blue Mountain, Chaos Mountain Brewing, Forge Brew Works and Starr Hill Brewery. Wine tasting from North Mountain Vineyards and spirits tastings from Belle Isle Premium Moonshine and Filibuster Bourbon will also be available.
Featured musical entertainment on the 93.7 NOW stage will be by Justified, a country rock band out of Northern Virginia.
A variety of festival food will be available from local businesses including Rutz’s BBQ, S&S Concessions, Poppy’s Kettle Korn and Little Red Snack Snack. Craft vendors will also be present.
Visitors are welcome to bring chairs and blankets but are asked to leave pets and large backpacks and totes at home. No food or beverages may be brought onto the festival grounds. Photo identification is required for entry. Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There will be no children’s activities at this event.
Sponsors include First Bank, Sprint, Woodstock Rotary Club and WINC FM. Stage sponsor is 93.7 Now and media sponsors are Q102 and 99.3 The Fox.
