Spooky and sweet Halloween fun

Looking for some Halloween fun? Here’s a roundup of area events:

Frederick County

Family Drive-In Theater, Stephens City. Haunted Trail, begins at 6 p.m.. Friday and Saturday.  Costume contest and Trunk or Treating, 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday.

Shenandoah County


The Kiwanis Club of Strasburg will hold its annual “Fun”draising event. There will be a Super Hero 5k Run/ Walk and prizes will be awarded for best costumes. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Race begins at 9 a.m. Pick up registration forms at Thomas Family Dentistry, City National Bank, Sager Real Estate, Crossfit Devil’s Backbone, Anytime Fitness. The race starts on High Street in Strasburg.

The Strasburg Heritage Association will sponsor ghost/graveyard walking tours from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday starting at the Hotel Strasburg.

Tours leave every 15 minutes, with the last tour leaving at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets, which are available at the hotel, are $3 in advance or $5 Saturday. Free for ages 13 and younger. A special bus tour for those with disabilities will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday starting at the BB&T parking lot. Registration is required by Saturday for the bus tour by calling 540-325-4397. American Fright Night hosted by American Celebration on Parade and Shenandoah Caverns. 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Tuesday. Admission: $10 per person. 261 Caverns Road. Shenandoah Caverns.

Corn maze at Bridgemont Farm. Hay rides, rope maze, corn hole and more. Friday and Saturday through Nov. 12. Hours: 4-10 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.  Saturdays, 1 – 7 p.m. Sundays.


Halloween on Court Square. 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Activities include face painting, petting zoo, trick dogs and trick-or-treating at participating businesses.

Woodstock Moose will hold its second annual Trunk or Treat event from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 152 Moose Road.


The Old Town Winchester Spooktacular will be held Saturday. Festivities include a pet costume parade organized by Posh Pets Boutique at 11 a.m. Trick or treat from 2 to 4 p.m. at local businesses.

Terror in the Tasting Room Halloween Party at Winchester Brew Works will be held beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday at 320 N. Cameron St. Adults only. $20 per person, $25 at the door until sold out.

A Halloween Bash will be held at James Charles Winery & Vineyard from 8-10:30 p.m. Saturday. Hors d’oeuvres and a glass of Witch’s Brew included with ticket, which costs $15 per person. Space is limited. 4063 Middle Road, Winchester, Virginia.

Winchester Public Safety Trunk or Treat will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Station, 2210 Valor Drive.

The Apple Blossom Mall will hold its annual Boo Bash from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. Trick-or-treat sponsored by Q102, Kiss-FM radio, Malloy Toyota, and Malloy Ford at 5:30 p.m.
