Buying a book for a book lover can sometimes be risky business. But for the friend who’s never short on book recommendations or without a book or two on hand, they’ll certainly appreciate anything literary-themed.

Tanya Singleton of Blue Peacock Antiques, 116 N. Loudoun St. in Winchester, offers a wide selection of books and vintage vinyl.

“We have Elvis Presley’s first LP, $285, to Elton John’s, $7, and everything in-between,” she said.

The Blue Peacock also offers a variety of   books from the 1800s on poetry or literature, certain to spark new ideas.

Page Master Books & Carl’s Comics, 904 John Marshall Highway, Front Royal, has a book or two for every book lover on that list. Known for their wide selection of both new and used books, Carl Pegler, owner of Page Master’s, believes there is something for everyone.

“If they can’t find a book or a comic, we have gift certificates available,” he said. “We sell a lot of them because sometimes finding the right book is just too hard.”

For the comic book collector, Carl’s Comics offers one of the largest collections in the valley. Thor, Daredevil, Superman, and Batman are just a few of the characters that can be found on the shelves.

Christine Patrick, owner of Winchester Book Gallery, 185 N. Loudoun St., Winchester, provides a holiday catalog perfect for all literary ages. The guide consists of top fiction, history, and children’s books. Patrick didn’t forget the young readers. Countless suggestions will make for a happy winter break full of reading and hot cocoa.
