Pet of the week: Calm Peyton is looking for a home
FRONT ROYAL — Peyton, a calm, 8-year-old pit bull mix, is looking for a loving place to call home.
Cassie Grohs, a kennel attendant at the Warren Humane Society, said that Peyton came to the animal shelter as an owner surrender. He is house-trained and crate-trained, she said, and he knows some basic commands, like “sit.”
Peyton doesn’t have any major health problems, Grohs said, but he is a little overweight. He is on a weight-loss diet at the animal shelter.
“He’s very healthy,” Grohs said. “Just the weight loss is the only problem he has right now.”
Peyton is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has been neutered. His adoption fee is $30.
Grohs described Peyton as a calm dog.
“He’s just very calm and very chill,” she said.
He doesn’t have any favorite toys.
“I don’t even think he really plays with them,” Grohs said. “Like, we give them to him, but I don’t think he really plays with them.”
When Grohs tossed a tennis ball in Peyton’s direction, he moved slowly toward the ball, sniffed it and walked away.
But Grohs said that Peyton does have a favorite activity.
“He does love to give hi-fives, I do know that,” Grohs said.
Peyton needs to be in a single-animal home, Grohs said. He also should not go to a family with kids.
Anyone interested in adopting Peyton should contact the Humane Society of Warren County at (540) 635-4734 or by visiting its website at www.humanesocietywarrencounty.org .
