Rotary Club hosts lunch with Santa

On Saturday, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be stopping by Bright Box Theater in Winchester for a lunch with Santa that will be hosted by the Frederick County Rotary Club.

Erika de Azagra, fundraising chair for the Rotary Club, is looking forward to the event because it encourages families to start off the Christmas season with some festive holiday joy.

“This is our first year as a club offering lunch with Santa,” Azagra said. “We wanted to be able to provide something for the entire family that was more cost effective.”

Pizza, drinks, along with other craft activities will be available for children. Erik Zimmerman will also provide a photo opportunity with Santa.

The lunch with Santa is more of a service project for the community, Azagra explained.

“Proceeds from Saturday’s lunch will go into our outreach budget,” she said. “The outreach budget is used for Kids Club, C-Cap and numerous scholarship opportunities in our community.”

Azagra hopes to have well over 100 individuals attend the lunch. “It’s supposed to be a beautiful day. Who wouldn’t want to come enjoy a quick bite with Santa?” she said.

Members of the Interact Club from Handley, Sherando and Millbrook high schools will be assisting with the luncheon.

“It’s a great pairing,” Azagra said. “Having like-minded, both young and old, coming together to celebrate Christmas with Santa.”

The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10. Tickets are available online at https://tinyurl.com/fcrclws or at the door.

Sponsors include Bright Box, Anthony’s Pizza and Erik Zimmerman.
