Local consignment shop offers all things Christmas
Nothing is more exciting than finding that perfect, hand-picked holiday gift for every loved one on that Christmas gift list. But sometimes shopping for people who have different personalities and tastes can be challenging. Sarah Bowling, owner of ETC Consignments in Winchester has a solution: Shop local consignment stores this holiday season.
“A lot of our customers like to shop for gifts here because they can find something unique,” Bowling said. “We sell a little bit of everything, at reasonable prices.”
ETC Consignment is best known for its wide array of clothing, including sweaters, dresses and shoes. And for their extensive selections of home décor, books and even furniture. With over 9,000 consigners, ETC Consignments is sure to have something for everyone on Santa’s wish list.
“We also have people who do a lot of crafting,” Bowling said. “So, they’ll come in and get items for their wreaths, or floral arrangements, but will also pick up a gift or two before they leave.”
It’s a never-ending cycle, Bowling added. And she said she wouldn’t change it for the world.
ETC Consignment has been in business for over 20 years. But Bowling and her husband Kevin purchased the business three years ago because they wanted to provide exceptional items at reasonable prices, she explained.
“Everything and everyone has a story,” Sarah Bowling said. “And we love to hear them.”
That’s one of the most rewarding aspects of owning the consignment shop, she added. Not only meeting new people daily, but hearing who they are and where they come from.
“Here I’m more than just a business owner, I’m part of the community,” Sarah Bowling said.
For customers that come to ETC Consignment, they’re doing more than just finding the perfect gift; they’re giving back to the community.
“We definitely give back. It’s important. And it’s why we’re here,” she said. “That’s another thing our customers and consigners like. While they’re picking a gift for someone, they’re giving a little gift back to the consigner, who’s getting a portion of the sale. They’re giving a little gift back to us by shopping small, which allows us to give back to the community.”
Sarah Bowling and the staff of ETC Consignment enjoy giving back to the community in any way they can.
“Anything I can do to get in the local community and help is what we’re here for,” she said.
Tucked down on 2104 S. Loudoun St. in Winchester, Bowling admits that sometimes she thinks people overlook them. But she’s not worried.
“Once you find us, you find us. And you become part of our extensive family,” she said.
