Pet of the week: Meet Missy, the real-life Garfield

WINCHESTER – Lazy but fiercely independent, Missy gets along with other cats just fine but can’t handle too much direct love, whether that’s holding or hugging.

As adoption agent Billie Guidry put it, she’s “more of a fixture in your home.”

“She has that wonderful personality, that Garfield personality of, like, ‘Whatever,'” Guidry said.

Guidry said 12-year-old Missy would match well with an older owner who’s looking for a relaxed companion.

Missy is spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and micro-chipped. That means that if she ever gets lost and shows up at another shelter, the workers there can scan her to determine where her home is, and return her safely.
