Lord Fairfax Orchid Society hosts show, sale this weekend

The Lord Fairfax Orchid Society is holding its annual orchid show and sale at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley on Friday and Saturday.

Society President Caleb Cornwell said he’s looking forward to this year’s event.

Guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a tropical oasis full of vibrant blooming orchids for two days, while vendors will be onsite selling a variety of orchids. A repotting station will be available for those looking to have orchids repotted for a small fee.

Attendance typically runs from 500-700 visitors.

“MSV helps us really pull our show together, Cornwell said. “With the peaceful atmosphere and the helpful staff, we are able to put on a terrific show.

“As the president of the society, I want the society to grow, and the show is the perfect place for that,” he said. “It is important to spread the ‘orchid bug.’ Once you catch it, you won’t be able to find a cure. “

Free lectures will be held from noon to 3 p.m. both days.
