Taste of the Town brings food, fun to Front Royal today

Hosted by the Front Royal Independence Business Alliance, the Taste of the Town offers food tastings from a wide variety of local restaurants as well as an evening of entertainment and family fun at 6 tonight.

Arline Link, alliance secretary, said the purpose behind the event is to promote local restaurants and businesses in Front Royal and Warren County.

“But not just restaurants,” Link said. “This year we’re calling it the ‘Taste of Front Royal’ as we’ve included many small businesses and local nonprofits.”

In its seventh year, the Taste of the Town offers residents an opportunity to sample food from local restaurants including Down Home Comfort Bakery, the Apple House, Ben’s Cuisine and Food for Real.

TRY THAI  Restaurant and Susie Bar, opening soon in downtown Front Royal, will be outside their newly renovated establishment at 205 E. Main St. offering sample items from their menu.

Small businesses and nonprofits will include the Klin Doctor, National Media and Old Time Antiques.

Attendees will also enjoy a car show, dancing, live music and a children’s play area.

“The town has been chattering about it for weeks now,” Link said. “Every year it becomes more and more successful.”

In its first year, the Taste of the Town saw over 1,000 people. Link estimates over 2,000 will attend tonight’s event.

“A lot of neat changes are coming to downtown Front Royal,” she said. “The FRIBA wants to help promote everything Front Royal has to offer — not just to locals but to guests as well.”

The Taste of the Town is scheduled to be held on Main Street and at the town gazebo. Main Street will be closed beginning at 4 p.m. today for set up. Students from Randolph-Macon Academy will assist with the setup and take down.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Front Royal Congregational-Community Action Project, a nonprofit corporation that provides emergency food, clothing and financial aid to families in need in Front Royal and Warren County.

General admission is free. Food tickets are $10 for seven tickets.

Sponsors include the Town of Front Royal, Apple House, Jack Evans, National Media, Ramsey Hardware, City National Bank and CBM Mortgage.
