Cross Roads Fest kicks off with live music tonight

New Market will host its fourth annual Cross Roads Fest at Rebel Park this year, with the first concert scheduled for this evening.

Amber Smoot, events and marketing director, said the summer concert series is a great opportunity for the community to come together and have a good time.

“Our goal is to continue providing top-notch local entertainment for our local residents and visitors alike,” Smoot said. “Music is a really great way to bring people together, and it really kicks off the beginning of summer.”

The concert has four dates spanning the summer. Chamomile and Whiskey will perform Friday. Everyday People will perform July 20, Sons of Liberty on Aug. 10, and Who Shot John on Sept. 7 will round out the summer series.

Smoot said they like to branch out and offer a  diversity of music.

“There’s a little bit of everything for everyone,” she said.

Entry to the concert series is free, and there will be food and vendors on site including the New Market Rotary, Chubby Monkey, Stinky Fingers and Jackson’s Corner Cafe.

New this year will be a beer and wine garden that will feature commercial beverages. A different wine or beer will be showcased at each event.

Smoot said over 19 small businesses came together to be sponsors for this year’s series, making it more affordable for their residents to attend.

“They really believe in it,” she said. “We’re really grateful that we’re able to provide this to our residents because it really is a great event.”

The event does not allow outside food or drink or pets.
