Front Royal Gospel Fest celebrates best of the valley Saturday

The fourth annual Greater Joy Baptist Church Gospel Fest on Saturday in Front Royal will include traditional as well as contemporary gospel music.

Sharon Howard, event organizer, said the event was started over four years ago by her husband as a church fundraiser.

“His dream is to see it get bigger and bigger, and one day shut down all of Main Street,” Howard said.

Saturday’s event, under the direction of the Rev. Reggie James, will be held at the gazebo on Main Street  and will showcase five singing and three dance groups from all over the Shenandoah Valley,  including Clifton, Fredericksburg and Front Royal.

Howard said she hopes everyone will come out and have a good time, enjoy the food and feel blessed on a beautiful spring-like day.

“We hope guests will walk away feeling like they’re lifted,” Howard said. “That they walk away with a good feeling, happy that we did this, just feeling like God did something in their life for a little while.”

The event is free and family friendly. Raffle and vendors will be available.

Greater Joy Baptist Church will provide  menu items with proceeds benefiting the church.
