Pet of the week: Energetic Brandy is looking for a home
WINCHESTER – Brandy, a 1-year-old shepherd mix, is looking for a new place to call home.
Kamryn Dixon, an animal caretaker at the Frederick County Esther Boyd Animal Shelter in Winchester, said that Brandy came to the shelter on June 8 as an owner release, but this wasn’t the first time that she was at the shelter.
“Brandy was here before,” Dixon said. “She had issues with other dogs, and she was food aggressive.”
Dixon described Brandy as energetic and she recommended the dog for a couple or someone who is active.
“She has a lot of energy to let out,” Dixon said.
Dixon warned that Brandy is not friendly around kids and she’s dominate of other dogs, so potential owners should have Brandy meet other dogs before they consider adopting her.
“Future owners should get her to acclimate with other dogs before they adopt her,” Dixon said.
The animal shelter is not aware of Brandy having any health-related issues, and Dixon said Brandy has been spayed and is up-to-date on her vaccinations.
Dixon noted that Brandy needs to be refreshed on house obedience and she has been trained with a leash. Brandy also responds to some commands, like “sit.”
“Get ready for an energetic dog,” Dixon said.
Brandy’s adoption fee is $30.
