Neighborhood notes: Shenandoah
Halley J. Dillon received a bachelor's degree in nursing from James Madison University during graduation ceremonies on Dec. 13.
She was also commissioned from JMU's Army ROTC program as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army nurse corps. She will attend the Army nurse corps officer basic course at Fort Sam Houston at San Antonio, Texas, and will be assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.
She is the daughter of retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. Michael S. Dillon of Woodstock and the granddaughter of William F. Triplett of Winchester, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Dillon of Roanoke and the late Joann S. Triplett.
Rebecca French of Woodstock has been named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary for the fall semester.
The Fort Valley Library has received the following children's books:

Gloria Evans of Edinburg has been named to the dean's list for the first fall term at National College in Harrisonburg.
Carolyn Ayers of Edinburg has been named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary for the fall semester.
The Wesley Chapel Family and Community Education Club made plans for the year at its Jan. 8 meeting.
Members volunteered 130 hours, sent 377 cards and made 70 shut-in calls last month. The next meeting will be Feb. 5.
Heather Underwood of Orkney Springs has been named to the dean's list for the first fall term at National College in Harrisonburg.
Jennifer and Timmy Neff of Strasburg have announced the birth of a son, Parker Allen, on Jan. 15 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.
Grandparents are Peggy and Donnie Neff of Strasburg and Mason DiFillippo of Woodstock.
Brent Judy, a sophomore at West Virginia University, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester. He was also accepted in the school of business and economics.
A 2007 graduate of Strasburg High School, he is the son of Allen and Paula Judy of Strasburg.
Timothy and Diana Craver of Ashland, Ohio, have announced the birth of a son, Daniel Allan, on Dec. 30 at Samaritan Regional Hospital.
Grandparents are the Rev. and Mrs. Richard Craver of Maurertown and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Wyant of Elkton.
Justin and Kristina Bowman of Mt. Jackson have announced the birth of a son, Zachary Nathanael, on Jan. 10 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.
Grandparents are Colin Pauley of Mt. Jackson, Charlote and Larry Herrell of Marshall, Dale and Sue Bowman of Crewe and Crystal Midkiff of Amelia.

Molly Frazier of Mt. Jackson has been named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary for the fall semester.
