Auto club news
Ted Morgan was installed as president of the Hoppers Auto Club and was also named its outstanding member in 2008 at its meeting Jan. 3.
Other officers are Mark Malone, vice president; Harold Ruckman, secretary; Norman Bayliss, treasurer; Jay Myrick, sergeant at arms; and Jim Young and Joe Patterson, board members.
Also winning awards were: Gene Boyce, life membership; Ruckman and Rick Combs, perfect attendance; Bayliss, Combs, Fred Cheshire and Monte Hounshell, car shows/ cruise-ins.

Navy Seaman Recruit Sean M. Kessinger completed U.S. Navy basic training at the Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.
The son of Barbara J. Leso of Berryville and Brian K. Kessinger of Winchester, he is a 2008 graduate of James Wood High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Christopher A. Hines of Stephens City was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at the Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.
He is a 2007 graduate of Sherando High School.
