Winchester

College news

The following Winchester residents have been named to the dean's list at Virginia Military Institute for the fall semester:

Jacob Collie, Matthew Palmer, Jenna Pickett and Stefan Stark.

The following Winchester residents graduated from James Madison University on Dec. 13:

Lauren Boyce, Jessica Brown, Natalie Guard and Sarah Schneider.

The following Winchester residents were named to the president's list at James Madison University for the fall semester:

Susan Cooper, Erica Knox, Sarah Shell, Colby Smith, Jamey Szalay and Kylie Vanlandingham.

The following Winchester residents were named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall semester:

Lauren Carlson, Matthew Cottino, Cara Gorman, Laura Henschen, Katherine Olmsted, Lindsey Perrault, Derek Pope, Arthur Powers, Amanda Rutherford, Stephanie Sousa and Meghan Starliper.



Military news

Army Reserve Maj. E. Scott Lowdermilk has returned to the United States after being deployed to Iraq.

A plans and operations chief with the 412th Engineer Command in Tikrit, he managed the operations, force protection and training requirements for more than 400 troops, civilians, Iraqis and contractors supporting the reconstruction mission in seven northern provinces of Iraq. The 412th, a major subordinate command in the U.S. Army Reserve Command, is based in Vicksburg, Miss.

Lowdermilk, who has 27 years of military service, is the son of Eldon H. and Nancy Lowdermilk of Inwood, W.Va. His wife, Michelle, is the daughter of Max Mossholder and Pam Reichert, both of Winchester.

After demobilization, Lowdermilk plans to return to his civilian job with the Army Corps of Engineers at the Transatlantic Programs Center in Winchester.

Air Force Airman Cody P. Camann has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas.

The son of Sherri Hewitt of Lyndhurst and Robert Camann of Winchester, he is a 2008 graduate of Handley High School.

Middletown

College news

Samantha Clark of Middletown was named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall semester.

Joseph Bloom and Kayla Kremer, both of Middletown, were named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall semester.

Clear Brook

College news

Logan Douglas and Whitney Godlove, both of Clear Brook, were named to the president's list at James Madison University for the fall semester.

Bethany Hott, Hillary Gallinger and Brittany Hott, all of Clear Brook, were named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall semester.

Jacqulyn MacHardy of Stephenson was named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall semester.

Christopher Holleman and Bradley Whitacre, both of Stephenson, graduated from James Madison University on Dec. 13.

Army Pvt. Donald H. Caison graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning at Columbus, Ga.

The son of Kathleen Martin of Stephens City, he is a 2004 graduate of Sherando High School.

Navy Seaman Brian R. Couplin completed U.S. Navy basic training at the Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.

The son of Regina S. Kim of Stephens City, he is a 2007 graduate of Manassas Park High School.
