Woodstock

School news
The following students at Peter Muhlenberg Middle School participated in the district chorus competition Feb. 13-14:

Tori Funkhouser, Michaela Wakeman, Oakli Wright, Kyle Dill, Kate Layton, Kayleigh Rogers, Jeff Hoole, Richard Miller, Jake Shelor, Grant Sheridan and Isaac Silvious.

Katie Ritenour and French Price, students at Peter Muhlenberg, will represent Shenandoah County at the regional spelling bee on March 7.

The Dupont Community Credit Union is accepting applications from high school seniors.
Students must complete an application and write on an assigned essay topic, which is available at www.mydccu.com. The deadline is March 9. Further information is available by calling 946-3200.

Maurertown

College news
Sarah Vormbrock has been named to the dean's list at Lord Fairfax Community College for the fall semester.

A 2008 graduate of Strasburg High School, she is the daughter of Tammy Rhodes of Strasburg and Stacy and Lori Vormbrock of Maurertown.

4-H news
The following were winners in the Shenandoah County 4-H public speaking contest:
Hallie Harriman and Katelin Kline, senior; Rachel Harriman and Kathryn Flynn, intermediate; and Tiffany Heishman and Hannah Orndorff, junior.

Rhanda Chrystene Helsley of Edinburg has been named to the dean's list at Longwood University for the fall semester.
