Military news

Army Pvt. Gary Nelson graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson at Columbia, S.C., on Feb. 6.

The son of Pat Nelson of Strasburg, he is attending military intelligence school at Corry Station in Pensacola, Fla.

College news

Jessica Goldsmith, a senior music and business administration major at Susquehanna University, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester.

A 2005 graduate of Strasburg High School, she is the daughter of Roy and Sandra Goldsmith of Strasburg.

Ashley D. Myers of Woodstock was named to the dean's list at George Mason University for the fall semester. She is a graduate of Central High School.
