Festival princesses

Four students have been named princesses in the court of the queen of the 82nd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, April 24-May 3.

Representing the Virginia Horticultural Society is Kourtney M. Ginn, daughter of Kim McDonald of Winchester and Stephen Ginn of Stephens City and granddaughter of Joan McDonald of Stephens City. She is a freshman at Bucknell University where she is a member of the dance company. She is a graduate of Sherando High School where she was president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Student Government Association, senior class treasurer and a member of the Latin Club, Academic Team and Future Business Leaders of America. She danced with the Vostrikov Academy of Ballet.

Representing the West Virginia Horticultural Society is Olivia Orr, daughter of Melissa and Mark Orr and granddaughter of Grace Knipe and Juanita Orr, all of Martinsburg, W.Va. A freshman at West Virginia University, she is a graduate of Martinsburg High School where she was a member of the tennis team. She is also a 4-H member.

Representing Shenandoah University is Emily B. Proffitt, daughter of Gail and Roy Proffitt III and granddaughter of Elizabeth Proffitt, all of Mineral. A senior biology/pre-pharmacy major, she is a cheerleader, student ambassador and orientation leader and a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association.

Representing Randolph-Macon Academy is Kaitlin C. Thomas, daughter of Kelli and Joseph Thomas of Reno, Nev. A senior, she is a senior officer in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, a cheerleader and a member of the homecoming, senior class gift and residential life committees.
