WINCHESTER -- Conservative political activist Kate Obenshain has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year's Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Ladies' Horticultural Luncheon.
Obenshain will speak at the event -- held in the ballroom at the Lee-Jackson Best Western Motor Hotel -- at 11 a.m. May 1, according to a statement released by festival officials.
Obenshain is a city resident and served as an appointee of Virginia Govs. George Allen and Jim Gilmore to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. She currently is vice president of the Young Americas Foundation, a conservative college lecture program.
