Library news

Samuels Public Library will be closed from Sunday until June 10 when it will reopen at its new location of 330 E. Criser Road.

School news

The following third-graders at Hilda J. Barbour Elementary School have been named to the all-A honor roll for the third grading period:

Daniel Almarode, Shawnacee Barber, Jordyn Barton, Macie Clerkley, Brett Dickerson, Nathan Johnson, Tyler Ketron, Conner McCollum, Parker Meltvedt, Erika Mirkay, Cody Petitt, Ethan Rist, Peter Skube, Ben Vogt, Jordan Wehrle-Carter, Evan Westman, Emily Whisenant, Faith Wohlfahrt and Renee Yatkso.

The following fifth-graders at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School have been named to the all-A honor roll for the third grading period:

Hannah Bailey, Zachary Beckner, Jewell Blakely, Michael Duggan, Erin Gilliland, Tori Reinhardt, Maria Ricks, Diana Ruiz and Rylie Thousand.

Randolph-Macon Academy's Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps received the rating of "exceeds standards" from the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Named Air Force JROTC outstanding instructors were Lt. Col. R.G. McManus, Master Sgt. William "Doug" French and Master Sgt. Stephen Pederson.

The following JROTC students received awards: Devon Barr, Front Royal American Legion Scholastic Award; Jacob Skeith, Association of Military Colleges and Schools Award; Thomas Wine, MacArthur cadet of the year; Zachary French, Military Officers Association of America Award; Ashley Birk, Air Force Sergeants Association Award; John Christoph, Military Order of World Wars Award; Allison Doran, National Sojourners Award; Christopher Munden, American Veterans Award; and Xing Zhang, Retired Enlisted Associations Award of Merit for Leadership.

The following fourth-graders at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School have been named to the all-A honor roll for the third grading period:

Hannah Chichester, Chance Coleman, Abigail Graham, Cerina Harris, Paul Jerome, Colin King, Daniel Kurzenknabe, Kyra Lane, Timothy Mendenhall, Aaron Patton, Joseph Silek and Nathan Thompsen.

Bebhinn Egger, a senior music major at Eastern Mennonite University, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

She is the daughter of Mark and Teresa Egger of Front Royal.
