Tim and Channell Hood of Owensboro, Ky., have announced the birth a son, Alexander Vann Marchese Hood, on April 1 at Owensboro Memorial Hospital.
Grandparents are Cyndie and Wilson Ryman, of Edinburg, Paul and Debbie Buckley of Toms Brook, Pat and Don Randall of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Bob and Jean Hood of Ridgeway, S.C. Great-grandparents are Dee and Donnie Griffey and Lois Ryman, all of Woodstock, and June Fishel of Toms Brook.

Garden club news
The New Market Garden Club celebrated its birthday with a luncheon on April 20 at the Shenvalee.
Ethel Garber gave tips on spring gardening. Reports were given on the spring meeting and programs for the year.
Mario Jorden and Ruth Simons received life memberships. Virginia Thompson received an award for her service and for the most blue ribbons for the year.
The May meeting will be held at Fort Valley Nursery.

James Stephen Kohlhaas has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Roanoke College.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Kohlhaas of Strasburg.
School news
Seventeen FFA students from Signal Knob Middle School and three members of the Green Team from Strasburg High School participated in Hometown Strasburg's Earth Day adopt-a-stream cleanup on April 23.
They cleaned the Town Run from Route 55 west to the Richards farm and collected 15 bags of trash and lots of debris.
