Air Force Airman Nikolaus L. Stinson graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas.
The son of Robert Ronca of High View, W.Va., and grandson of Melvin Brill of Winchester, he is a 2008 graduate of Hampshire (W.Va.) High School.
Marine Corps Pfc. Steven C. Anderson Jr. has reported for duty with Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron 29 at Marine Corps Air Station New River at Jacksonville, N.C.
Anderson, who joined the Marine Corps in February 2008, graduated from Handley High School in 2007.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Anthony M. Clark graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas.
The son of Michael and Theraporn Clark of Winchester, he graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy in 2002 and received a bachelor's degree from Bridgewater College in 2007.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Michael W. Denherder graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas.
The son of Gregg Denherder of Winchester and Cathy Widzga of Stephens City, he graduated from Sherando High School in 2003 and received an associate degree from Lord Fairfax Community College in 2008.

Danielle Gause, a student at Winchester Academy, has been named a state winner in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest held in Columbus, Ohio.
Students were judged on their printing and cursive skills.
