Toms Brook

Card shower

A card shower is planned for Dorothy Reger, who will celebrate her 80th birthday on June 21.

Mt. Jackson

College news

Molly Frazier, a student at the College of William and Mary, has received the Shenandoah County Education Association scholarship.

A graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, she is the daughter of Yvonne and James Frazier of Mt. Jackson.

Monica Arbaugh of Mt. Jackson, a student at National College, received a $1,200 Joseph E. Hurn academic performance scholarship.

Strasburg

Mike and Amy Himelright of Strasburg have announced the birth of a daughter, Piper Claire, on May 28 at Winchester Medical Center.

Grandparents are Darrell and Patti Stickley of Toms Brook and Gary Himelright of Strasburg.

College news

Katie Baker and Bethany Funkhouser, both of Strasburg, have been named to the dean's list at Bridgewater College for the spring semester.

Baker is a freshman liberal studies major and Funkhouser a junior English and communication studies major.

Maurertown

Zach Cline of Maurertown, a junior allied health science major at Bridgewater College, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Edinburg

Jamie and Janet Kibler of Fairfax have announced the birth of a son, Braxton Everette, on May 9 at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

Grandparents are Buster and Sharon Kibler of Edinburg and Ray and Ann Barone of Odenton, Md. Great-grandmothers are Shirley Leake of Woodstock and Dorothy Kibler of Maurertown.

Amanda Marston of Edinburg, a junior liberal studies major at Bridgewater College, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Alexis Martinez of Baltimore graduated with honors from Towson University with a bachelor's degree in theater.

The granddaughter of Eugene and Beverly Polk of Edinburg, she is a makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics.

Kolter Stroop, a criminal justice major at Radford University, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

He is the son of Doug and K.K. Stroop of Edinburg.

Basye

College news

Nathan Alvarado-Castle of Basye, a freshman sociology and psychology major at Bridgewater College, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Woodstock

College news

Heather Leake of Woodstock earned a bachelor's degree in recreation and sport leadership from Eastern Mennonite University.

Library news

The Woodstock Library is accepting donations of good, lightly used paperbacks to send to troops in Iraq.

Kayla Runion, a senior at Central High School, received the Phi Delta Kappa International Scholarship for prospective educators.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Johnson Sr. of Toms Brook.
